Morton, Charles H., 1832-1882

A physician and druggist in Quincy, Illinois, Morton joined the 84th Illinois Infantry as major in August 1862 and eventually became its colonel. Captured at Chickamauga in September 1863, he spent about six months in Libby Prison, Richmond, Viriginia. After the war he engaged in business and held several political offices in Quincy.
